- New! Inline autofill for cards, identities, and passkeys
The new Bitwarden autofill update empowers users to seamlessly navigate the web and securely use their cards, identities, and passkeys from the Bitwarden browser extension. In addition to logins, the browser-based inline autofill menu will now display relevant cards, identities, and passkeys as options for autofill.
Cards and identities have been a highly requested addition to the inline autofill menu from the Bitwarden community. This new update enables users to safely autofill such information on trusted sites.
Online checkout just got easier with Bitwarden! If Bitwarden detects a billing or payment form, the inline autofill menu can now display the cards you have stored in your vault — showing the card name, type, and last four digits of the card number. Simply select your preferred card from the menu and Bitwarden will autofill that card’s information into the form.
Don’t have cards in Bitwarden yet? No problem! After entering your payment information in a checkout form, select the New card button from the Bitwarden inline autofill menu.
The Bitwarden extension will open the new card view with all your information pre-filled. Simply add a name for your card and select Save. Bitwarden will suggest this card next time you need to fill a payment form.
Save time when filling out contact, address, or registration forms. If Bitwarden detects a form requesting your personal information, the inline autofill menu will allow you to select and autofill identities stored in your vault.
For websites that support passkey autofill, the Bitwarden inline autofill menu will suggest matching passkeys you have saved in your vault. Select the passkey you would like to use from the menu to log in.
Passkey support is currently available for most browser extensions, with Safari support coming in a future release.
The inline autofill menu was initially released December 2023 and is the newest addition to Bitwarden autofill methods. With a secure and user-centric design, the inline autofill menu is the easiest method for Bitwarden users to safely use sensitive information like credentials, addresses, and credit cards on trusted websites.
